Stonecrest Hospital expanding

The maternity and surgical wards at Smyrna’s near-new Stonecrest Hospital will be expanding, according to the June 26, 2006, edition of the Daily News Journal.  The surgical expansion is tabbed at $8.6M, and the maternity and other floor expansion is tabbed at $4.5M.  The projects are expected to be completed by 2007.

Coming Attractions: New shopping center for Smyrna

The June 23, 2006, edition of the Nashville Business Journal reports that Smyrna’s growth along I-24 will include a new shopping center built by Business Condos USA.  It will be located next to the 14-screen theater presently planned for the area adjacent to the Sam Ridley corridor.  Construction is predicted to begin in five months, with a nine-month construction period.  No word from the theater developer on groundbreaking timelines…

Motlow State opens Smyrna campus

Motlow State’s growth into Smyrna is detailed in the June 23, 2006, edition of the Daily News Journal.  Classes started on May 30 in a building that can accomodate 1500 students.  The College expects to expand to serve 4000 students.

Rutherford County unemployment second-lowest in State

The June 23, 2006, edition of the Tennessean reports that Rutherford County enjoys the State’s second-lowest unemployment rate at 3.8%.
