Rutherford County continues with Growing Real Estate Market

According to the December 18, 2006, Daily News Journal, the housing market in Rutherford County, Tennessee, continues to grow despite a general slowdown nationwide.

The article noted that, “Home buyers this year have closed on 5,883 through November at an average price of $172,240, and about 44 percent of them were new houses, according to RealTracs Multiple Listing Service. The total is 17 more than reported for the same period in 2005 at an average price of $160,900. House sales for 2006 so far also surpass the total in 2000 of 3,630 when the average price was $127,100.”

Murfreesboro Medical Center Corridor Continues Growth

According to the December 2, 2006, Daily News Journal, the Avenue shopping center on the Medical Center corridor in Murfreesboro has announced additional retailers to join in the development. The newly-announced retailers are Brighton, Coldwater Creek, Francesca’s Collections, Kay Jewelers, Mimi’s Cafe, The Children’s Place, Yankee Candle, Linens ‘N Things and Petco. Already-committed were Ann Taylor Loft, Aveda, Barnes & Noble, Belk, Best Buy, Carters, Champs Sports, Chico’s, Cost Plus World Market, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Jos. A Bank, Lane Bryant, Limited Too, Longhorn Steakhouse, New York & Company, Off Broadway, Osh Kosh B’Gosh, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Talbots, Ulta and White House/Black Market.

Construction began in July 2006 and the project is expected to open in October 2007.
